The situation in the Mykolaiv region remains tense. On August 3, the aggressor state continued its systematic attacks on the region, striking critical infrastructure. This time, port facilities came under fire, confirming the enemy's strategy to paralyze Ukraine's logistical hubs.

### Two strikes on the port

Georgy Reshetilov, Acting Head of the Mykolaiv Regional Military Administration, reported in his Telegram channel about a double attack carried out during the day. According to him, the enemy used Shahed-type unmanned aerial vehicles to strike the port infrastructure of the Mykolaiv district.

As a result of the shelling, civilian vessels were damaged. Preliminary data indicates that two merchant ships were hit. Despite the severity of the attack, there is currently no information about casualties. "According to preliminary information, there are no casualties," Reshetilov clarified.

### Context of escalation

The attack on August 3 was a continuation of a series of sabotage acts and shelling that Russia has been carrying out against the region for several weeks. RBC-Ukraine previously reported that on July 28, the Mykolaiv region was subjected to a massive strike. On that day, the enemy used "Shahed" and "Banderyl" drones, as well as guided aviation bombs (KAB). At that time, the attacks resulted in destruction and four injured people.

Particularly tragic events occurred on the night of July 27, when Russian forces attacked civilian merchant vessels in the region's ports. In that incident, people were killed, and other passengers and crew members were injured.

Earlier, on the morning of July 20, Russian occupiers also directed strike drones towards Mykolaiv and the region. At that time, two people were injured. The series of attacks demonstrates that the port zone remains a priority target for the Russian armed forces.
