# Night Attack on Crimea: Explosions, Power Outages, and Fires in Kerch

On the night of July 12, occupied Crimea became the scene of major events. Powerful explosions were heard in the region, and power supply restrictions were introduced in Sevastopol. The occupation authorities reported a drone attack and the operation of air defense systems.

### Situation in Sevastopol: Outages and Air Defense

Pro-Russian authorities in Sevastopol confirmed temporary power supply restrictions. According to their version, the outages are related to an overload of the power system outside the city and are necessary to prevent a major accident. Social infrastructure facilities were switched to backup power schemes, and the schedule of restrictions was promised to be published after the terms were clarified.

At the same time, the administration denied reports of an explosion at the Balaklava Thermal Power Plant, calling such information unreliable. However, against the backdrop of power outages, authorities stated that the city was subjected to a drone attack. According to their data, air defense forces and mobile fire groups were operating in the Northern Side and Balaklava areas. It is claimed that four UAVs were shot down, and no information about casualties has been received.

Residents of the city also reported the operation of the "Pantsir" complex in the area of the Balaklava Thermal Power Plant from the side of the Fedyukhin Heights.

### Explosions in Simferopol and Kerch

Residents of Simferopol also reported explosions. According to them, at least three powerful explosions were heard in the city at intervals of several minutes. In addition, information appeared about an airstrike in the area of the railway station. Witnesses also reported shooting in the area of the Tavricheskaya Thermal Power Plant, however, there was no official confirmation of this information at the time of publication.

According to the "Crimean Wind" monitoring group, two fire outbreaks were recorded in Kerch, which is confirmed by satellite images. The first fire arose in the area of Russian air defense positions on Khroni Mountain near Glazovka. Earlier, local residents reported the flight of drones, the operation of air defense systems, explosions, and subsequent fires. Another fire occurred in the area of the Kamyshe-Burun port.

### Attack on a Tanker in the Sea of Azov

It should be recalled that on the night of July 12, drones attacked a tanker in the Sea of Azov while it was entering the Azov-Black Sea Canal. According to the Governor of the Rostov Region, Yuri Slyusar, a fire occurred on the ship, which was promptly localized.
