# Night hunt at sea: how Ukraine's UAS destroyed five ships in the ports of Mariupol, Berdyansk, and off the coast of Crimea

On the night of June 5, Ukrainian drones carried out a large-scale operation in the waters of the Black Sea. Five ships located in the ports of Mariupol and Berdyansk, as well as in the coastal waters of Crimea, were hit. Information about the attack came from the Commander of the Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS) Robert "Madjar" Brovdi.

### Enemy stealth and precision strike

All five targets hit shared common signs indicating an attempt to conceal their presence. Ship owners painted over the names on the hulls and completely turned off navigation equipment, including transponders and radars. Despite these precautions, UAS operators were able to identify and destroy the ships.

The command clarified in the statement that the targets included both cargo bulk carriers and tankers. Robert Brovdi described the course of the operation succinctly: "Birds of the 1st UAS Center politely visited the bulk carriers and the tanker. Good optics, heavy 300-kilogram arguments. More to come".

### Systematic work against the enemy fleet

The attack on June 5 was a continuation of a series of successful Ukrainian drone operations against maritime targets. The UAS are demonstrating the ability to strike at significant distances and in various locations:

- On June 4, drones hit a Russian "Svetlyak" class patrol ship in Crimea, as well as a number of other objects.

- On June 3, a strike was launched against the "Boyky" corvette in Kronstadt near St. Petersburg. The distance from the Ukrainian border to the site of the attack was about 1100 kilometers. Video of this destruction has already become available to journalists.

These events confirm that the Unmanned Aerial Systems continue to systematically destroy the occupier's fleet, not limiting themselves to border zones.
