# Night hunt on the fleet: Ukrainian drones destroyed eight tankers in the Sea of Azov

A large-scale air-sea operation has erupted in the Sea of Azov, becoming one of the most significant events in the struggle for the logistics of occupied Crimea. According to Colonel Robert Brovdi (callsign "Madyar"), Commander of the Unmanned Systems Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Ukrainian drones destroyed eight fuel tankers heading towards the peninsula overnight.

### Scale of the blow to logistics

According to RBC-Ukraine, the battle for fuel for Crimea has been ongoing for several days, but the night operation has reached a qualitatively new level. All damaged vessels are under international sanctions. These are tankers with a deadweight of about 7,000 tons and a length of approximately 140 meters, built between 2006 and 2012.

### Strikes on rear areas and energy sector

The operation was not limited to the fleet alone. During the night, 58 military targets were engaged in the operational rear of the enemy on the temporarily occupied territory. The energy sector of the peninsula also suffered significant damage: electricity supply facilities and key logistics hubs in Crimea were hit. Details regarding the scale of the consequences of the attack on infrastructure are being clarified.

### Strategy of "long-term attrition"

Kyrylo Budanov, Head of the President's Office of Ukraine, previously explained the logic behind the continuing strikes on targets in Crimea. According to him, the inconveniences faced by the residents of the peninsula due to power and water outages are the price of achieving a major strategic goal.

During the night of the past 24 hours, the Defense Forces of Ukraine also struck two Russian defense industry enterprises, the fuel depot of the "Belgorod" airfield, and bridges in the Bryansk region and Crimea.

Commander Brovdi summarized the results of the operation succinctly: "We will stand firm. Moscow will fall. We will feed and rebuild Crimea".
