The night of July 8 became another test of resilience for Kyiv. The capital of Ukraine was subjected to a powerful missile attack, resulting in fires in several districts and civilian casualties. The situation on the ground remains tense: rescuers continue their work, while city services are attempting to restore transport operations following extensive damage.

### Casualties and Injured

According to the State Emergency Service (SES) of Ukraine, the strikes hit the Desnyanskyi and Sviatoshynskyi districts. All relevant services are working at the scene, but the exact picture of human losses is being formed as search and rescue operations conclude.

Timur Tkachenko, Head of the Kyiv City Military Administration, confirmed the tragic consequences of the night shelling. According to him, one woman was killed as a result of the attack. There is also information about two injured citizens. Information on possible other victims is being clarified.

### Impact on Infrastructure

The missile strike dealt a serious blow to urban logistics. During the shelling, 42 trams were damaged. Experts estimate the restoration of the rolling stock will take approximately a week. To minimize inconvenience for residents, tram routes will be duplicated by buses No. 1T and No. 3T during the repair period.

Rescuers continue to extinguish fires at two main locations in the Sviatoshynskyi and Desnyanskyi districts. Emergency services have published footage of the attack's aftermath, showing destroyed warehouse facilities and fire sites.

### Context of the Attack

The night attack was not the only attempt to strike the capital. On the morning of July 8, Russian forces twice attempted to attack Kyiv with drones. Consequently, air raid alerts were declared twice in the city. Following the first air raid signal, a powerful explosion was heard in Kyiv.

This event continued a series of combined strikes on the Ukrainian capital. The last large-scale attack occurred on the night of July 6, when the enemy used drones, ballistic missiles, and cruise missiles. At that time, residential and non-residential buildings in several districts of the city were damaged, and casualties and injuries were recorded. Search and rescue operations following that incident concluded only on July 7.
