In an interview with the magazine, Wyle confessed that he initially didn't believe the win and even assumed the news was a joke, as he had never imagined himself in such a ranking. "I hope everything changes now. I hope from now on it's just wine and roses, milk and honey," the actor joked. ### The Wife's Role in Recognition According to Wyle, it was his wife, Sara Wells, who assured him he deserved public attention. "She thinks I'm a good person, and that who I am—as a person, as a father, as a man—deserves to be talked about. I thought, 'Okay, if you say so.' Plus, she was very pleased that this proves she has good taste," the actor shared. Wyle is married to Sara Wells, the couple shares two children, and he has a daughter from his first marriage. ### From ER to The Pitt Wyle gained widespread popularity through the TV series ER, where he played medical student and later physician John Carter, working alongside George Clooney, Anthony Edwards, Sherry Stringfield, and Julianna Margulies. For his work on the show, he was nominated for three Golden Globes and five Emmys, though he never won any of those awards. In 2025, the actor returned to the medical theme in the HBO series The Pitt, where he plays Dr. Michael "Robby" Robinavitch, working in an emergency department. ### A Record-Breaking Awards Streak His work on The Pitt brought Wyle a new wave of professional recognition. Last year, the title went to Jonathan Bailey, star of the film Wicked, who became the first openly gay man to receive the honor. Previous laureates include Patrick Dempsey, Chris Evans, Paul Rudd, Michael B. Jordan, John Legend, and Idris Elba.
