# Norway allocates 3 billion kroner for air defense missiles for Ukraine: how Patriot deliveries will be accelerated

Norway has announced the allocation of 3 billion kroner — approximately 268 million euros — to strengthen Ukraine’s air defense. These funds will be used, among other things, to purchase missiles for Patriot systems. This was reported by RBC-Ukraine, citing the Norwegian government press service.

### Joint order with allies and accelerated deliveries

Norway is not acting alone: together with Denmark, Germany, and Canada, it will order new missiles directly from a factory in the United States under the PURL (Patriot Unit Replacement and Logistics) program. However, production and delivery times for new munitions may be lengthy. To avoid delays, the Norwegian government plans to purchase some missiles from countries that already have them in stock — this will help accelerate deliveries to Ukraine.

### “Ukraine’s fight is our fight”

Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre emphasized the strategic importance of supporting Kyiv: “Ukraine’s fight for its own defense is our fight for our own defense. Ukraine faces Russian attacks every day. Russia continues to strike people, Ukrainian cities, and energy infrastructure. Ukraine manages to shoot down most drones and cruise missiles, but it needs stronger defense against ballistic missiles”.

### Investing in the future: joint system development

In addition to purchasing ready-made missiles, Norway is also allocating funds to participate in Ukraine’s initiative for joint development of anti-ballistic missile systems with Europe. This is a long-term step aimed at creating more effective and adaptable solutions for sky protection.

### Critical shortage of interceptor missiles

The situation on the front remains tense. Earlier, Ukrainian Defense Minister advisor Serhiy “Flash” Beskrestnov reported that the country effectively has no missiles to intercept Russian ballistic targets. At the same time, countries bordering Russia — including Germany — themselves assess the threat as high and are not ready to transfer their stocks of such munitions.

### International support and prospects

Ukraine has already received a major aid package from Canada for air defense, and additional defense resources are expected soon. President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that during his meeting with US President Donald Trump at the summit in Turkey, one of the main topics will be strengthening Ukraine’s air defense, particularly obtaining additional Patriot air defense systems.

Support from Norway and other allies is becoming a key element in ensuring Ukraine’s security amid ongoing aggression. Rapid missile deliveries and investments in developing new systems could become a decisive factor in the country’s ability to counter ballistic threats.
