### Warsaw confirms the fall of a strategic missile

Poland has officially concluded its investigation into the high-profile incident on its territory. Deputy Minister of National Defense Cezary Tomczyk stated that the munition that exploded on Polish soil was a Russian Kh-101 cruise missile. This weapon is a maneuvering target capable of carrying nuclear warheads, which immediately attracted the attention of the international community and military analysts.

"We can confirm with full responsibility that it was a Russian Kh-101 missile that exploded upon impact with the ground," Tomczyk emphasized in an interview with the Polish news portal RMF24.

### Record wave of attacks and tragedy at the border

The incident occurred against the backdrop of unprecedented scaling of hostilities. On the night of July 30, 2026, the Russian Armed Forces launched an attack on Ukraine using 70 missiles at once. For comparison, standard shelling usually involves 10 to 20 units. About twenty of these missiles were moving along trajectories directed towards the Polish border.

The situation at the border reached a critical point. A Ukrainian pilot, detecting the threat, began pursuing one of the missiles, attempting to shoot it down in the air. However, international protocols and the ban on invading the airspace of a NATO ally put an end to the interception attempt. The pilot was forced to stop the attack a few dozen seconds before crossing the border. As a result, the Kh-101 missile managed to cross the line and crashed onto Polish territory.

### Diplomatic response and NATO reaction

Despite the seriousness of the situation, Warsaw chose a restrained tone in its reaction. Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk stated that the country was not the intended target of the attack. According to military experts, the missile may have deviated from its course or lost control due to the operation of Ukrainian electronic warfare systems.

In Brussels, the incident provoked sharp condemnation. European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen called the event an unacceptable violation of EU airspace and a direct threat to the security of the alliance. Experts note that, despite the soft rhetoric, the incident has once again raised the question of the need to create a joint air defense zone to protect border territories.
