A significant shift is brewing in the mobile processor market. Initial benchmarks of the new NVIDIA RTX Spark chip indicate that the Santa Clara-based company is ready to challenge not only Intel and AMD but also Apple Silicon, which currently dominates the ultrabook segment.

### Unexpected Leader in Synthetic Benchmarks

Data published by user @lafaiel on social network X demonstrates the impressive performance of the new release. RTX Spark is built on the Grace 20-core processor and a Blackwell architecture graphics accelerator. Despite using previous-generation ARM cores, their sheer number allowed the chip to deliver outstanding results in the Clang compiler synthetic benchmark.

In this run, RTX Spark decisively outpaced the base Apple M5 chip. While Apple's 10-core processor scored 27,996 points, the NVIDIA solution reached 43,149 points. This advantage amounts to over 54%.

### Comparison with Competitors: AMD and Intel

NVIDIA's results were so high that even the 16-core AMD Ryzen AI Max+ 395 processor could not compete in this scenario. Furthermore, the situation with Intel is indicative of the NVIDIA chip's energy efficiency.

The powerful 24-core Intel Core Ultra 9 285HX, operating at significantly higher power limits, barely edged out the RTX Spark. This proves that NVIDIA's architecture allows for high performance with lower energy consumption, which is critical for mobile devices.

### Rivalry with Apple M5 Pro

While RTX Spark dominates over the base versions of competitors, the picture changes when compared to Apple's flagship chips. The 15-core version of the Apple M5 Pro scored 46,374 points, outperforming the NVIDIA novelty by just 6.95%. The gap becomes significant when compared to the 18-core M5 Pro version (55,165 points), where the NVIDIA chip lags by nearly 22%.

Nevertheless, RTX Spark landing in the gap between the base M5 and the top-tier M5 Pro is a strong argument in favor of NVIDIA's new platform.

### Gaming Potential and Battery Life

Synthetic benchmarks are only part of the picture. The gaming potential of RTX Spark is of particular interest. NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang has already demonstrated the launch of AAA games, such as 007 First Light and Forza Horizon 6, on laptops equipped with this chip. Notably, the games ran smoothly even on battery power, which could be a deciding factor for gamers who value mobility.
