# Nvidia Synthetic Video Detector: How AI Learned to Catch Fake Videos in Milliseconds

In an era where neural networks can create video fakes indistinguishable from reality, the media industry is seeking reliable tools to protect against disinformation. Nvidia has introduced a new service — Synthetic Video Detector — designed to automatically identify video clips generated by artificial intelligence. The solution is already available via the Nvidia NIM microservices platform and is targeted at newsrooms, streaming platforms, and organizations for whom quickly verifying the authenticity of visual content is critical.

### How the detector works: frame-by-frame analysis

The service performs deep frame-by-frame analytics of the video stream, calculating the probability that the clip was created using generative models. Based on the obtained data, the system suggests marking the material as suspicious, sending it for manual verification, or temporarily excluding it from publication. Nvidia emphasizes: the tool does not replace traditional verification methods — it serves as an additional layer of protection in the content validation chain.

### Accuracy and speed: the numbers speak for themselves

According to the manufacturer, recognition accuracy reaches:

- 92% for uncompressed video;

- 87% with 15% compression;

- 82% with 50% compression.

Processing a Full HD clip takes only about 22 milliseconds on Nvidia RTX graphics cards and approximately 30 ms on Nvidia L40 accelerators. Such performance allows the detector to be integrated into real-time video processing streams without delays — for example, in live broadcasts or automated moderation systems.

### Leadership in tests and global deployment

Synthetic Video Detector has already taken top places in the independent AI GVD Bench benchmark — one of the key tests for systems detecting generated video. This confirms its effectiveness compared to market alternatives.

To scale the technology, Nvidia has partnered with Wowza — a leading provider of video stream processing platforms. Thanks to this, integration will be possible in 170 countries worldwide, opening access to the tool for a wide range of users: from large media conglomerates to local news portals.

### Why this matters now

With the growing availability of generative models, the risk of deepfake dissemination is increasing exponentially. Synthetic Video Detector is one of the first industrial tools capable of working in real-time with high accuracy. Its emergence could become a turning point in the fight against digital fraud and public opinion manipulation through video.
