# Octopus-100: How Ukrainian Engineers Created a Mass-Produced Interceptor to Combat 'Shaheds'

Amid ongoing drone attacks, the enemy is seeking new ways to defend itself. In response to these challenges, the Ukrainian company TAF Industries has moved to mass production of the specialized interceptor drone, the Octopus-100. This solution is designed to effectively neutralize jet drones of the 'Shahed' type.

### Mass Production and Logistics

According to RBC-Ukraine, citing the developer's press service, the company has already reached the stage of mass production. A key advantage for customers is the availability of stock. This allows for the delivery of finished products in accelerated timeframes, bypassing long production waits. Reliable supply is ensured by a well-established logistics chain for components.

The Octopus-100 can be purchased in two ways: directly through the official TAF Industries website or via the specialized Brave1 Market platform. The cost of one interceptor is 117,000 UAH. For full deployment of a unit, a kit of 10 drones with all necessary equipment is offered, priced at 1,574,000 UAH.

### Technical Improvements

According to Vladimir Zinovsky, CEO of TAF Industries, the first batch of interceptors has already passed testing and been handed over to military units for combat use. The company's engineers are not resting on their laurels and are constantly modernizing the design.

Thanks to experience in the development and production of UAVs, the speed of the Octopus-100 has been increased by more than 20%. Improvements were achieved through a comprehensive approach: replacing batteries and motors, as well as optimizing aerodynamics and propeller design.

The drone is designed to destroy aerial targets at high speeds, including at night. An important characteristic of the model is its ability to operate under conditions of active countermeasures from electronic warfare (EW) systems.

### Operator Training

The effectiveness of the system depends not only on the 'hardware' but also on the qualification of the pilots. The company notes that an experienced operator will need only a few days to master the control of the Octopus-100. Novices, however, must first undergo basic training in controlling FPV drones.

However, for full operation as part of a mobile-fire group, where interaction with target detection specialists is required, longer training is necessary—about a month.

### Development Context

The development of the Octopus-100 is part of a wide range of Ukrainian initiatives in the field of air defense. Earlier, reports emerged about the creation of the unique DART missile, which is launched directly from stratospheric balloons. The main feature of this development was its complete resistance to hostile EW systems.

The missile is lifted to an altitude of 12 to 18 kilometers using special balloons. Servo drives ensure the accuracy of activation by maintaining a stable flight trajectory. The system demonstrates reliability under any drop conditions, complementing the arsenal of defense means with new high-tech tools.
