# OpenAI changes the game: ChatGPT learns to plan tasks and says goodbye to news briefings

The era when artificial intelligence was a passive tool, responding only to direct commands, is coming to an end. OpenAI has announced a major update for its flagship product — ChatGPT. The main novelty is a full-fledged task planning feature for the future, which turns the chatbot into an active assistant capable of working autonomously.

### New "Scheduled" section

Previously, users had to manually enter queries every time to get fresh analytics or data. Now, the ChatGPT interface has a separate section **Scheduled**, which will be displayed in the sidebar. This is the control center for future tasks.

Here, users will be able to see all active tasks they have assigned to the AI. Management has become intuitive: directly from this page, you can pause tasks, edit request conditions, or completely remove them from the queue.

### Technological leap and flexibility

Developers didn't just add a button to the menu — they significantly modernized the architecture for processing deferred prompts. This made task execution significantly faster and more reliable.

When creating a task, you can specify for the chatbot:

    - Exact execution time (e.g., 9:00).

    - A broader time interval (morning, afternoon, or evening).

### Proactive monitoring feature

One of the most intriguing features of the update is the proactive monitoring function. Users can configure the AI to independently search for information on the internet or check data in connected third-party applications at a certain time. Upon completion, the system will issue a ready-made report, freeing the person from the need to monitor the process.

### The end of the Pulse era

Along with the launch of the new scheduler, OpenAI announced the closure of the **Pulse** feature — personalized daily news briefings that appeared last year. Notably, Pro premium subscribers will be able to use this feature for another 14 days.

In the future, users are recommended to set up automatic prompts through the new calendar hub to create daily digests and summaries, which will become a more flexible alternative to the departing feature.

### Who will get access first?

The new scheduled tasks interface is gradually becoming available to users of **Go, Plus, Pro, Business, and Enterprise** tariff plans, both in the web version and on mobile devices. The company has not yet announced the timing of the task scheduler's appearance for free accounts.
