The success of ChatGPT was just the beginning. OpenAI, the company behind the revolutionary language model, is officially preparing to launch its own line of hardware products. The company has confirmed work on a whole ecosystem of gadgets designed to change the way people interact with technology in their daily lives.

RBC-Ukraine reports on the developers' plans, citing data from Android Authority. Although rumors about the creation of their own devices have been circulating for a long time, OpenAI is now moving from concepts to specific timelines and technological solutions.

### Design by the creator of the iPhone

The development of the hardware line at OpenAI is no longer a secret. Back in 2024, the company joined forces with legendary designer Jony Ive — former Chief Designer at Apple, responsible for the iconic look of the iPhone and iPad. The involvement of a specialist of this caliber suggests that OpenAI is aiming not just for functionality, but for creating a new aesthetic standard in the world of AI devices.

Rumors have attributed various form factors to the company: from smart pens and speakers with screens to wireless headphones with built-in ChatGPT. However, OpenAI top managers are currently refraining from specific details, leaving room for intrigue before the official announcement.

### Development principles: autonomy and utility

Greg Brockman, a key figure in the company's leadership, declined to reveal the exact appearance of future devices, but outlined the main strategic guidelines on which the new line is built:

    - **AI as the foundation:** all devices are developed from scratch around OpenAI's own language models, rather than simply using them as an application.

    - **Practical utility:** the main goal is to create devices that truly improve and simplify the use of technology in routine daily life.

Commenting on the current legal proceedings with Apple, Brockman noted that OpenAI is sticking to its long-term technology development roadmap and is focused on internal innovations, despite external pressure.

### 'Living' devices and voice control

Preliminary data suggests that the new gadget will radically change the approach to the interface. The focus is on voice communication and moving away from familiar touch screens in favor of mechanical interactions.

Communication with the device will be based on the modern version of the ChatGPT voice mode — GPT-Live. This algorithm can speak and listen simultaneously, adapt to the pace of conversation, and process information instantly, making the dialogue as natural as possible.

A unique feature of the gadget will be mechanical elements of the casing capable of moving independently. This will create the effect of a 'living creature': the device will not just respond to commands but will also visually demonstrate its state, giving the user the feeling of interacting with a living conversational partner.

### Forecasts and release dates

The new product from OpenAI is positioned as a proactive assistant. By analyzing the owner's emails, messages, and daily habits, it will learn to anticipate needs in advance, manage a smart home, and act as a personal expert in everyday tasks.

Hardware novelties may hit the shelves very soon. OpenAI's Global Affairs Director, Chris Lechaine, confirmed that the presentation of the company's first physical device is scheduled for the second half of 2026.
