# Operation 'Meow-Meow': How Ukrainian Soldiers Saved a Cat and Kittens Using a 'Vampire' Combat Drone

On the front line, where human lives are at stake every day, a unique humanitarian mission took place. Ukrainian soldiers from the 118th Separate Mechanized Brigade used a heavy combat drone to rescue furry inhabitants of the combat zone. The operation, code-named 'Meow-Meow', resulted in the successful evacuation of a cat and five kittens to a safe rear area.

### Combat Equipment in the Service of Mercy

Pilots of the motorized infantry battalion of the 118th OMB demonstrated high professionalism by directing the power of their equipment towards saving lives. A heavy hexacopter 'Vampire' was deployed for the evacuation of animals — a machine that in standard mode is intended for combat tasks. Despite the fact that the drone is usually used for attacks, this time it became a rescue tool.

The mission was successful: the cat and its offspring were moved out of the danger zone. As the soldiers themselves note, the furry 'paratroopers' even made it into the camera lens, capturing the moment of their rescue. The brigade emphasized that this act proves that even in the conditions of the harshest war, Ukrainian warriors remain people ready to risk for the smallest living creature.

### 'Vampires' and 'Baba Yagas': History of Application

The use of heavy drones on the front line has its own statistics and history. 'Vampire' hexacopters last year became one of the most effective machines in the arsenal. According to data announced in January at the 'Army of Drones 2025' event, these aircraft carried out more than 2.5 million combat missions.

In addition to 'Vampires', heavy drones of the 'Baba Yaga' type are also in service. The popularity and significance of these machines are so high that at the end of last year, a monument to one of such aircraft was erected near Kyiv. However, it was in the 118th Brigade that the equipment found application in an unexpected role as a rescuer, proving that technology can serve not only destruction but also the preservation of life.
