# Over 100,000 Ukrainians to take entrance exams for Master's and PhD programs: registration results and statistics

The first stage of the admission campaign for Master's and PhD programs in Ukraine has concluded. According to data from the Ukrainian Center for Educational Quality Assessment (UCEQA), more than 102,000 people have registered to take the exams this year. The centers are now moving on to generating invitations for applicants.

### Campaign scale and distribution

Registration took place in two periods — the main one and the second one. According to the rules, all applicants who submitted applications during either of these periods will participate in the main exam session. Currently, the Ukrainian Center and its regional divisions are in the process of distributing registered individuals by date, time, and location of the tests.

Information regarding the specific conditions for taking the tests will be indicated in the personal invitations that all applicants will receive. Special attention is being paid to those who chose two subject tests of the Unified State Testing (UST) if their administration is scheduled for the same time. In such cases, UCEQA will independently determine the schedule for each candidate.

### Statistics on specialty choices

Data analysis shows that interest in obtaining higher education remains high. Among the more than 102,000 candidates planning to enter Master's programs, a significant group stands out who are striving to obtain a Doctor of Philosophy or Doctor of Arts degree — their number has exceeded 20,000 people.

In 2026, the subject test in Pedagogy and Psychology became the leader in popularity. 19,610 people registered for it. This direction traditionally attracts the largest number of applicants aspiring to work in the field of education and psychology.

Conversely, the least interest was shown in Political Science and International Relations. Only 2,503 people chose the test in this direction, making it the least popular among all available options.

### Important nuances for applicants

UCEQA reminds that simplified admission conditions apply to applicants from temporarily occupied territories. Also, many students are considering the possibility of applying for two specialties simultaneously, which requires special attention to the order of submitting applications and adhering to deadlines.

Separately, it is worth noting the changes in the admission rules for military universities in 2026, where the document submission deadlines were extended. These measures are aimed at ensuring maximum accessibility of education for all categories of citizens, including those in difficult circumstances.

The next stage will be the receipt of invitations, after which applicants will be able to prepare for the exams in accordance with the specified dates and locations.
