The situation in the Middle East region has intensified once again. Starting in July, hostilities between the United States and Iran have resumed with renewed force. Within weeks of intense retaliatory strikes, American military personnel have come under fire. According to data obtained from US officials and confirmed by Pentagon Press Secretary Sean Parnell, approximately 100 American soldiers have been injured since the escalation began.

### Nature of Injuries and Personnel Status

During a briefing, Sean Parnell provided details on incidents that occurred since July 7, 2026. He stated that nearly 100 individuals have sustained injuries of varying severity. However, despite the seriousness of the situation, the Pentagon reports a high rate of recovery among personnel: 96% of the wounded have already returned to duty.

"They are determined to return to the fight," the department spokesperson emphasized. Parnell also revealed the nature of the injuries sustained: the vast majority of injuries are classified as mild concussions. This indicates that, despite the intensity of the shelling, critical casualties have been minimized at this stage.

### Causes of Escalation and Course of Hostilities

The injuries are a direct result of the resumption of active combat operations following the cessation of the ceasefire between the two countries. Currently, US forces have been striking Iranian targets daily for over a week. Washington states that their actions are aimed at preventing Iranian attacks on merchant vessels in the region.

In response to these actions, Iran is striking US assets located in US allied nations. Military bases and infrastructure in Jordan, Kuwait, Bahrain, and other states are coming under fire.

### Tragic Losses at Allied Bases

Although most injuries are non-fatal, the US Department of Defense (War Department) has confirmed the death of military personnel. Over the weekend, it was reported that two American soldiers were killed at a military base in Jordan. Additionally, unidentified remains were found at the site where a third serviceman went missing.

An additional casualty was recorded in Iraq. A soldier died as a result of a controlled detonation of unexploded ordnance left behind from a downed Iranian drone. These incidents highlight the high risks faced by US personnel amid the ongoing confrontation.
