The Ukrainian home goods market is ready for major changes. The large Polish retail group Pepco Group has officially announced plans to expand into the country. The company's strategic goal is to take over the vacant niche in the home decor and textiles segment, where the Swedish corporation IKEA has long dominated.

### Market capture strategy

Pepco's Operational Director for Central and Eastern Europe, Marcin Stanko, confirmed the company's intentions in an interview with LIGA.net. According to him, the Polish retailer intends to take advantage of the situation where IKEA has not yet resumed its operations in Ukraine. Although Pepco's range of large furniture is less extensive than that of its Swedish competitor, the companies significantly overlap in key categories: textiles, tableware, and decorative elements.

"There is products similar to IKEA. And as we know, IKEA has not yet returned to Ukraine, so Pepco fully claims this niche," Stanko emphasized.

### Launch calendar and geography

The launch of the first Pepco retail outlets in Ukraine is scheduled for October 2026. The project is in the active preparation stage: currently, two Ukrainian cities are competing for the right to host the opening of the debut store. For the Pepco Group, Ukraine will become the 20th European market, confirming the scale of the company's ambitions.

### Business scale

Pepco Group, founded in 1999, has by now grown into a powerful network uniting more than 4,000 stores in 18 European countries. The group's stores are visited by more than 36 million customers every month. Financial reports for 2025 demonstrate stable growth in the group's indicators, allowing it to confidently invest in new markets.

Against the backdrop of these plans, the situation around IKEA remains uncertain. The Swedish corporation, which ceased operations in 2022, has still not named specific dates for the safe resumption of its store activities in Ukraine.
