# Personnel revolution in Kyiv: Zelenskyy changes the Prime Minister and prepares a purge in law enforcement agencies

Major changes are brewing in Ukrainian politics. President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has officially announced an update to the Cabinet of Ministers and a personnel overhaul of the law enforcement system. This decision came as a surprise to many in the government, although certain signals regarding upcoming changes had been received earlier.

### Yulia Sviridenko's departure and new strategy

The main event of the day was the head of state's statement on the need to update the Cabinet of Ministers to implement a new political strategy. The President met with the current Prime Minister Yulia Sviridenko, with whom he discussed the details of the upcoming changes.

Sviridenko confirmed the meeting and expressed her willingness to continue serving the state, however, her position as Prime Minister will apparently become vacant. On social media, she noted that she is ready to carry out tasks to strengthen Ukraine's positions and protect national interests, but the specifics of her new role are not yet being disclosed.

According to information from MP Yaroslav Zheleznyak ("Voice"), one of the likely options for the career growth of the current Prime Minister could be an appointment as the Ambassador of Ukraine to the USA. This rumor gained additional food for thought against the backdrop of long-standing questions from the NABU regarding the current ambassador Olga Stefanishina, against whom a SAP production was opened a year ago. Experts suggest that the development of Stefanishina's case could have influenced the chain of personnel decisions by the president.

### Who will head the government?

According to RBC-Ukraine sources, the main candidate for the post of Prime Minister is named Serhiy Koretskyi. The President has already held a separate meeting with him, during which steps to ensure the country's stability within the framework of the updated strategy were discussed.

Parliamentarians note that the decision to update the government came as a surprise to many, as these plans were not discussed within the Cabinet of Ministers until the last moment. However, most sources in power are already talking about the appointment of Koretskyi as a fact, given the upcoming challenges: preparation for winter and possible intensification of shelling.

If the Rada votes for the dismissal of the Prime Minister on July 13-14, the government will transition to "acting" status. Vice Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal will temporarily perform the functions of the head of the Cabinet of Ministers. Zelenskyy also held a meeting with him, discussing the implementation of stability plans, especially in the areas of energy and restoration.

### Purge in law enforcement agencies

In addition to the government, large-scale changes will also affect law enforcement agencies. Zelenskyy confirmed that there will be replacements among the heads of law enforcement agencies, however, names are currently being kept secret.

Sources link these changes to the leadership of the State Bureau of Investigation (SBI). The reason for personnel decisions could be the recent scandal associated with the brother of the SBI Director Oleksiy Sukhachev. The court banned the publication of an investigation into real estate owned by the relative of the head of the agency, which caused a wide resonance.

At the same time, the president held a meeting with the Minister of Internal Affairs Ihor Klymenko. Zelenskyy noted the significant results of the work of the Ministry of Internal Affairs in the conditions of a full-scale war, although he admitted the existence of problems. The parties discussed urgent challenges and additional resources necessary to carry out tasks to combat crime.
