# Peskov responds to Lithuania's warnings: 'Scare tactics' and NATO plans

Dmitry Peskov, the Russian President's press secretary, sharply commented on recent statements by Lithuanian leadership regarding a possible military aggression from Moscow. Speaking to Russian media, the Kremlin representative called Vilnius's concerns a "portion of scare tactics" intended to escalate the situation.

### "Politics of hatred" and NATO infrastructure

Gitanas Nausėda, the President of Lithuania, previously stated that the country possesses intelligence data on Russia's new aggressive plans. According to him, Vladimir Putin intends to test the unity of the NATO alliance. In response to these words, Peskov accused the Baltic states of frightening their own population with a fabricated threat. In the press secretary's opinion, the true goal of such statements is to draw more military infrastructure of the North Atlantic Alliance into the region.

Separately, Dmitry Peskov criticized Latvia. He stated that a "politics of hatred towards everything Russian" is being pursued in the country, which allegedly happens constantly and causes rejection on the part of Moscow.

### Ukrainian track and the situation in Iran

During the briefing, Peskov also touched upon the topic of the war between Russia and Ukraine, linking it to possible diplomatic initiatives by the United States. He reported that through communication channels, the Kremlin received signals about Washington's readiness to continue work on the Ukrainian front after resolving the crisis around Iran.

The Kremlin representative characterized the situation in the Persian Gulf region as being in a phase of degradation. He also mentioned US President Donald Trump's statement about the potential closure of the airspace over Ukraine, noting that Moscow has not yet heard anything similar from officials.

### Context: from "operation" to war

It should be recalled that earlier, in early July, Dmitry Peskov stated that the Russian "special military operation" was initially planned as a limited action. However, according to him, it turned into a real war due to Western intervention. These words were made against the backdrop of ongoing hostilities and the escalation of rhetoric between Moscow and the Baltic countries.
