# Poland Takes on a Key Role in Producing Patriot Missiles for Ukraine: Timelines and Details

Poland has officially confirmed its readiness to become a central link in the supply chain and production of Patriot air defense systems for Ukraine. This was stated by the Polish Minister of Defense, Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz, emphasizing that without the active participation of Warsaw, the implementation of this project is impossible.

### Exclusive Status and Technology Transfer

According to the minister, Poland has joined a select group of states granted by the US the right to receive technology transfer related to the production and maintenance of Patriot missiles. In addition to Warsaw, this list includes Germany, Sweden, and the Netherlands. The status was approved during negotiations in Ankara. This means that Poland is officially included in the list of countries authorized by the US to organize the production and servicing of these systems.

Kosiniak-Kamysz noted that Warsaw has already begun the process of cooperation with Kyiv on this issue. The minister emphasized that Poland is ready to immediately begin exploiting the technologies and conducting further operations to support the Ukrainian air defense system.

### Timelines and Scale of the Task

When asked when exactly missile production could begin on Ukrainian territory, the Polish minister gave a cautious but encouraging forecast: the process will take several weeks. He acknowledged the complexity of the task, noting that even the US, the main producer of Patriot missiles, cannot always ensure sufficient supply volumes for its own needs. Therefore, the creation of new production capacities is an urgent and critically important issue.

### Critical Situation with Ammunition in Ukraine

The decision to transfer technology is being made against the backdrop of an acute shortage of air defense means in Ukraine. US President Donald Trump previously stated that Washington would grant Kyiv the right to produce Patriot systems. However, the need for them remains colossal.

The Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine has already warned about the critical depletion of missile stocks for Patriot, NASAMS, and IRIS-T systems. According to military data, ammunition has practically run out in certain units. Advisor to the Minister of Defense of Ukraine, Serhiy "Flash" Besskrystnov, stated that the country has effectively been left without missiles capable of intercepting Russian ballistic missiles.

In this regard, Kyiv has appealed to 40 countries with a request to transfer missiles for Patriot systems in exchange for future supplies provided for by existing contracts. Now, with Poland's inclusion in the production chain, the situation may begin to change for the better.
