### Large-scale operation against military medical commission doctors

A new corruption scandal is unfolding in Ukraine, this time involving the system of military medical commissions (MMC). The Department of Strategic Investigations of the National Police of Ukraine has conducted a large-scale anti-corruption operation. Simultaneously, law enforcement officers carried out raids on medical experts in 16 regions of the country. The goal of the raid was to identify cases of illegal enrichment by MMC officials and expert teams for assessing the daily functioning of individuals (EDFI).

Investigators were looking for evidence of discrepancies between the officials' official income and their actual assets. During the checks, the police seized undeclared apartments, cars, land plots, and large sums of cash. The investigation also focused on assets belonging to the relatives of the suspects, which may have been purchased with illegal funds.

### Damage amount and investigation details

Preliminary data indicates that the total amount of identified asset discrepancies reaches 200 million hryvnias. In each specific case, the gap between what the doctors declared and what they actually own ranges from 2 to 11 million hryvnias. This indicates a systemic nature of violations in this sector.

Documents seized during the raids may become key evidence in a money laundering case. Currently, law enforcement officers are continuing the pre-trial investigation, gathering evidence to announce official suspicions to the suspects. The investigation is checking not only the presence of hidden assets but also cases where declared assets clearly exceed the officials' official income.

### Context of corruption in the military sector

This operation is not an isolated incident. Previously, Ukraine has seen high-profile scandals related to abuses within military structures. In particular, officials at the Uzhhorod Territorial Recruitment and Social Support Center were suspected of torturing military personnel, including the use of handcuffs and tying them to ladders. These incidents caused a wide public outcry and drew attention to problems within the mobilization and accounting system.

Furthermore, the National Anti-Corruption Bureau (NABU) and the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office (SAP) exposed a scheme involving the extortion of a bribe amounting to one million dollars. The scandal is linked to the procurement of drones for the State Border Guard Service. These cases show that the fight against corruption in the defense sector remains one of the priorities of law enforcement agencies.

The results of the current operation against MMC doctors may become an important step in cleansing the system of corrupt elements. However, final conclusions can only be drawn after the investigation is completed and official suspicions are announced. For now, the police continue to work on gathering evidence and establishing all the circumstances of the case.
