Poland has officially confirmed the transfer of five PAC-3 MSE missiles for the Patriot air defense systems to Ukraine. This decision, which sparked intense debate in Warsaw, was made following consultations with key figures from NATO and the USA.

### High-level decision

Details of the operation were provided by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of National Defence of Poland, Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz. According to him, the initiative came from NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte and the Supreme Allied Commander Europe, General Alexus Grinkevich. The consultations involved a group of system users, highlighting the strategic nature of the deal.

Kosiniak-Kamysz emphasized that five missiles represent the "limit of our capabilities" at the current moment, however, this step does not weaken Poland's own air defense system.

### Security guarantees and compensation

That same evening, Deputy Defence Minister Cezary Tomczyk confirmed the information about the transfer of "several" missiles on the TVN24 channel. He added that the process was carried out in full coordination with Washington and NATO headquarters.

The most important aspect for Warsaw was security guarantees. Tomczyk revealed the details of the agreement: in the event of a threat to Poland itself, the country will receive compensation in the form of a ten-fold volume of missiles and systems of this type. Delivery is promised within the first 24 hours after the threat begins.

### Political scandal and tough response

The decision to transfer weapons caused a stir within Polish politics. Deputy Speaker of the Sejm Krzysztof Bosak accused the government of conducting the operation secretly from the parliament, violating coordination procedures.

Amidst the criticism, Defence Minister Kosiniak-Kamysz took a tough stance, defending the actions of the cabinet. He stated that he prefers Polish Patriot systems to shoot down Russian missiles over Kyiv rather than over Warsaw, thereby indicating the priority of regional strategic security.
