# Precision vs. Volume: How Ukrainian Drones Strike at Russia's Oil Revenue and Defense Industry

The war in Ukraine has entered a phase where not only front-line positions but also remote industrial centers play a key role. Ukrainian long-range drones are demonstrating growing effectiveness, striking strategically important objects deep inside Russian territory. According to RBC-Ukraine sources, the accuracy of these strikes significantly exceeds the indicators of Russian "Shahed" attacks.

### The Math of Effectiveness: 12% vs. 5%

The statistics of hits speak for themselves. More than 10–12% of Ukrainian long-range UAVs consistently reach their designated targets. For comparison: the accuracy rate of Russian "Shahed" kamikaze drones that were not shot down by air defense systems is only 3–5%. This difference in effectiveness allows the Armed Forces of Ukraine to inflict more tangible damage on the enemy's infrastructure.

Over the past year, Kyiv has radically changed its tactics and arsenal. If previously the focus was on isolated strikes, now there is a qualitative leap in the quantity and types of means used. Sources for the publication note that Ukraine is approaching parity in the number of long-range UAVs launched, while the warhead capacity of missile drones is also increasing.

### Double Strike: Oil and Weapons

The priorities of attacks are clearly focused on two directions critical for the functioning of the Russian economy and military machine:

    - Oil and gas sector facilities: processing, storage, transportation, and export of oil.

    - Defense industry enterprises producing precision weapons and explosives.

Such a strategy allows for simultaneous pressure on the Kremlin's budget by reducing revenues from energy exports, while also reducing the production capacity of the defense industry, limiting weapon supplies to the front.

### New Tactics: Decoys and Mass Salvoes

Ukraine has adopted and adapted some tactical maneuvers previously used by Russia. Mass strikes now include decoy drones and lures with small warheads. Their task is to saturate the airspace, force air defense systems to expend expensive missiles, and breach the defense for the main strike units.

According to information from Russian social media channels, hundreds of drones fly towards the aggressor country almost every night. This creates a constant load on the air defense system, preventing it from recovering.

### Consequences of Strikes: From Armavir to Crimea

The effectiveness of the new strategy is confirmed by specific incidents. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy confirmed the conduct of an operation by the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) against an oil depot in Armavir, Krasnodar Krai. The facility is located 500 kilometers from the border, demonstrating a significant increase in the range and accuracy of Ukrainian aviation.

The most visible consequences of attacks on logistics and oil facilities are observed in occupied Crimea. A rationing system for gasoline was introduced in the region: the sale of AI-92 fuel is limited to 20 liters per vehicle. This step was a direct reaction to the shortage caused by the destruction of supply infrastructure.
