### The High Cost of Occupation: Attrition Tactics

The situation on the eastern front remains tense, yet the Ukrainian side is demonstrating the effectiveness of its defensive strategy. The Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Oleksandr Syrskyi, has released shocking statistics regarding Russian army losses during attempts to advance in the Donetsk region. According to him, to capture just one square kilometer of territory, the enemy is forced to lose more than 400 servicemen.

These figures were announced by the Commander-in-Chief during a meeting with the Commander of the NATO Security and Assistance Mission for Ukraine, Lieutenant General Curtis Scaparrotti. During the conversation, Syrskyi detailed the operational situation on the battlefield to his American counterpart, emphasizing that Ukrainian warriors are doing everything possible to make every step of the enemy as costly and exhausting as possible.

### Seizing Strategic Initiative

Syrskyi noted that Ukraine is transitioning to active defense with the aim of seizing the strategic initiative. The Commander-in-Chief confirmed the successful reduction of the enemy's offensive potential, as well as the limitation of their ability to deliver mass missile and air strikes. In his view, it is precisely the tactic of forcing the enemy to suffer colossal losses for minimal territorial gains that is the key to shifting the balance of power.

### Strikes on Rear Areas and Logistics

To achieve these goals, the Armed Forces of Ukraine are striking Russian military-industrial complex facilities at distances of up to 2,000 kilometers. Additionally, as part of the Middle Strike operation, the enemy's logistical network is being destroyed at a distance of 200 to 300 km from the front line. Syrskyi is confident that these actions directly affect the situation in the frontline zone, depriving the enemy of resources for the offensive.

### Outcomes and Prospects

Previously, Syrskyi had already declared the failure of Russia's large-scale offensive and summarized the results of strikes against the Russian army for June 2026. Against the backdrop of hostilities in Ukraine, a successful experiment in saving the wounded on the front lines is also being scaled up, which helps reduce personnel losses and return soldiers to the ranks.
