A sensational incident involving tensions between Poles and Ukrainians occurred in the Polish city of Poznań. On July 3, the police detained two men who attempted to stage a provocation at the office of a Ukrainian businesswoman. The incident took place in the building of the University of Economics, where the woman rents premises for her company.

### Details of the provocation

Two unknown individuals entered the building and began an aggressive dialogue with the office owner. According to available data, the men tried to enter the premises under the pretext of an "inspection" while filming the woman. Their questions were provocative in nature: they asked whether Natalia Fedoriak's company supports Stepan Bandera.

Despite the pressure, the woman did not let them into the office and called the police. In the recordings made by the provocateurs, they claimed that "Ukraine is hostile towards Poland." Natalia Fedoriak herself, the owner of Prolegalization, a company specializing in the legalization of foreigners, maintained her composure.

### Connection to far-right circles

According to Polish media reports, the detained men are linked to the far-right party KKP (Confederation – Club of Conservative Politics), led by Grzegorz Braun. The politician is known for his radical rhetoric, blocking the Ukrainian-Polish border, and constant speeches against the presence of Ukrainian refugees in the country.

### Victim's reaction and investigation

Natalia Fedoriak explained her calmness as a natural protective reaction: "I knew that panic and stress would not help me. A person must defend themselves, respond to the essence of the matter, and not fall for any provocations".

The police opened a case regarding slander and the publication of a recording that could have humiliated the victim. Charges have been brought against both suspects, which could result in a fine, restriction of freedom, or imprisonment for up to one year. Additionally, the men have been officially banned from approaching the woman. The suspects did not admit their guilt.

### Political context

The incident in Poznań takes place against the backdrop of a general escalation of the situation. Poland is actively preparing a law on the "Volhynian Tragedy," which has caused concern in Kyiv. The Ukrainian Ministry of Foreign Affairs has already urged Warsaw to refrain from new steps that could escalate the conflict. Earlier, the head of the Security Service of Ukraine, Kyrylo Budanov, warned that Poland is preparing a number of "immature escalation steps".

At the same time, the Polish Ministry of Defense is discussing the issue of providing MiG-29 fighters to Ukraine, and the government has published lists of military aid provided to Ukraine in 2022–2023. Thus, the provocation in the entrepreneur's office became just one of the points of tension in a complex bilateral agenda.
