## 🎯 Key Points

- Styler and Yakaboo selected five main psychological thrillers for October 2026
- The selection includes new works by Holly Jackson, Gilly Macmillan, Naomi Williams, and other authors
- The books' plots are built on investigations, memory puzzles, revenge, and fighting against time

Autumn evenings are traditionally associated with atmospheric reading that can provide vivid emotions and immerse readers in a world of mysteries. The Styler project, in cooperation with the national book platform Yakaboo, has presented a selection of five compelling psychological thrillers ideal for reading in October 2026. At the center of the plots are characters forced to investigate crimes, restore lost memories, and fight for survival under conditions of severe time constraints.

### Dangerous Conspiracy and Dark Humor

Six strangers meet in a divorce support group and agree to retaliate against each other's former partners to deflect suspicion from the true masterminds. However, their carefully planned conspiracy quickly spirals out of control when the ex-spouses begin to die one by one, and the conspirators suddenly find themselves under investigation. British writer J.D. Pennington masterfully combines high psychological tension with elements of dark humor, demonstrating how the pursuit of imaginary justice turns into a dangerous obsession.

### Mind Games and the Riddles of Memory

Psychologist Emma Best is given a daunting task: to help a patient in a maximum-security psychiatric hospital recover her memory after an incident that left her covered in someone else's blood. British writer Naomi Williams builds her narrative on the fragility of human memory and the danger of hasty conclusions, forcing the reader to untangle a web of contradictory testimonies. Meanwhile, Scottish landscapes and medieval manuscripts in Gilly Macmillan's new novel offer readers an intellectual dive into the secrets of ancient manuscripts and archival plots.

### Race Against Death and Dark Pasts

A special place in the autumn selection is held by the work of Holly Jackson, known for her 'A Good Girl's Guide to Murder' series. The plot of her first novel for an adult audience centers on 27-year-old Jet, who on Halloween night suffers a fatal brain injury and has only seven days to live. Instead of despairing, she decides to solve her own murder before the inevitable end arrives. The literary review is rounded out by J.G. Marker's dark thriller about the grim legacy of a serial killer nicknamed Father Tish and a new confrontation with a criminal calling himself the Exile.
