# Rain and thunderstorms: how the weather will change in Ukraine on June 14 against the backdrop of global warming

On June 14, unstable weather is expected in Ukraine: short-term rains will occur across almost the entire country, with thunderstorms possible in some areas. Despite the precipitation, the air will warm up to +26°C, which is typical for the summer period; however, in the western and most northern regions, the temperature will be lower — from +18°C to +23°C.

### Weather conditions by region

According to the forecast from the Ukrainian Hydrometeorological Center, as reported by RBC-Ukraine, the day will begin with variable cloudiness. Rains will be short-term, but in some areas they may be accompanied by thunderstorms. The exception will be the southeast of the country, where precipitation is less likely.

In Kyiv and the Kyiv region, variable cloudiness is also expected. Short-term rains are possible during the day, and thunderstorms may occur in some parts of the region. Residents of the capital and its suburbs should be prepared for sudden weather changes and have an umbrella or raincoat at hand.

### Global context: climate trends

These weather phenomena are occurring against the backdrop of broader climate changes. Last month, Europe experienced its first powerful wave of summer heat: in the UK, France, and Spain, temperatures reached monthly records. This is yet another signal that the planet's climate is changing faster than expected.

The United Nations World Meteorological Organization has warned that by 2030, the Earth will almost certainly experience a new record global temperature. Experts link this to the intensification of the greenhouse effect and anthropogenic impact on the climate system.

### What awaits Ukraine in the long term?

In an interview with RBC-Ukraine, Sofia Sadogurska, an expert from the climate department of the public organization “Ecodia,” discussed the consequences of global climate change that Ukraine may face. According to her, the country will encounter an increase in extreme weather events — from droughts to heavy downpours and thunderstorms.

“We are already seeing how seasonality is changing: spring is becoming shorter, summer — hotter, and autumn — rainier. This affects agriculture, water resources, and even public health,” noted Sadogurska.

Thus, even an ordinary rainy day in June may be part of a larger climate shift that requires attention not only from meteorologists but also from every citizen of the country.
