Real Madrid secured a 2-1 away victory against Barcelona in the marquee match of the 10th round of the Spanish championship, held at Camp Nou. The heroes of the match were French forward Kylian Mbappe, who scored a brace, and Ukrainian goalkeeper Andriy Lunin, who put on a solid performance in goal for Madrid.

### Match Flow and Mbappe's Opening Goal

The visitors started the match aggressively, creating dangerous opportunities through quick counterattacks and finding open spaces in the opponent's defense. In the 41st minute, Madrid took the lead: after a poor clearance by Barcelona defender Gerard Martin, the ball hit Kylian Mbappe and bounced into the net. This goal allowed Jose Mourinho's side to go into halftime with a minimal advantage.

### Barcelona's Pressure and Lunin's Crucial Saves

In the second half, the hosts increased the pressure and equalized in the 61st minute following a precise shot by Raphinha from Pedri's assist. The conceded goal forced Ukrainian goalkeeper Andriy Lunin to showcase his skills. Notably, the 27-year-old goalkeeper made a vital save following a close-range header from Gerard Martin, preventing Barcelona from taking the lead.

### Captaincy Role and the Frenchman's Decisive Brace

Starting from the 63rd minute, Andriy Lunin wore the captain's armband after Federico Valverde left the pitch. The climax arrived in the 87th minute when a quick Real Madrid counterattack involving Jude Bellingham and Eduardo Camavinga culminated in Mbappe's second goal into an empty net.

### Significance of the Victory in the Title Race

The success in El Clasico allowed the Madrid club to end Barcelona's nine-game winning streak in the national league. Earning three points closed the gap with the league leader to a minimum, while Lunin successfully played his first official match of the 2026/27 season amidst Thibaut Courtois's illness.
