# From Ruins to Legend: Kyiv Proposes Renaming 'Lukyanivska' Metro Station to 'Invincible'

Against the backdrop of frozen time, when smoke still lingers over a devastated district, an idea has emerged in Kyiv that could rewrite the city's history. A petition with a resonant proposal has appeared on the Kyiv City Council website: to rename the 'Lukyanivska' metro station to 'Invincible'.

### Memory Carved in Concrete

The initiative was launched by Dmytro Nikolayevsky. His argument is simple yet powerful: the urban environment should mirror the reality we live in. The author believes that the heroism of Kyiv's residents during the full-scale war deserves eternity, not oblivion. The metro station, which withstood the strikes, has already become a symbol of the incredible resilience of Ukrainians and the capital's ability to rise from the ashes.

### The Price of Resilience

The proposal to rename the station did not come out of nowhere. On the night of May 24, Russia launched a massive strike on the capital. Lukyanivka found itself at the epicenter of the attack. A direct hit destroyed the 'Square' shopping center and the Lukyanivka market, damaged residential buildings, and destroyed part of the metro station's vestibule. For several hours, the city lived without this important transport hub, but it soon resumed operations, becoming an embodiment of life that cannot be destroyed.

### The Path to Official Recognition

Currently, there is an active collection of signatures. For the initiative to move beyond just an idea and become a subject for consideration by the relevant commission and city authorities, the petition must gather 6,000 signatures. The authors have 59 days to prove that 'Invincible' is not just a beautiful word, but an accurate reflection of the spirit of this district and all of Kyiv.
