Diplomatic tensions between Bucharest and Moscow have reached a critical point. Romania has taken an unprecedented step: completely closing the Russian consulate in Constanța and declaring the consul persona non grata. This move is a direct response to an incident in the city of Galați, where a Russian "Geran-2" drone crashed into a residential building, injuring civilians.

### Airspace violation and the cost of error

On the evening of May 29, amidst a massive attack on the Odesa region, one of the drones broke away from the main group and violated Romanian sovereignty. According to the country's Ministry of Defense, the UAV crashed into a high-rise building, causing a fire and injuring civilians. An emergency meeting of the Supreme Council for National Defense (CSAT) lasted more than two hours, after which President Nicolae Ciucă announced Bucharest's firm position: Russia bears full responsibility for the incident.

### Internal struggle and consolidation

The President of Romania did not limit himself to foreign policy steps. In his speech, he sharply criticized a group of Romanian politicians who tried to minimize Moscow's guilt or justify the Kremlin's actions. Ciucă emphasized that citizens clearly see the difference between those who genuinely support the Western course and those who merely simulate loyalty. This incident has become a catalyst for hardening rhetoric within the country.

### NATO reaction and border reinforcement

The North Atlantic Alliance quickly reacted to the border violation. NATO spokesperson Alison Hart condemned the recklessness of Russian military forces, and the organization's Secretary-General took personal control of the situation. In response to the threat, Romania began implementing additional defensive measures along the eastern border, strengthening airspace control and deploying air defense systems to intercept similar threats in the future.
