## 🎯 Key Points

- The footballer accused Jorge Jesus of breaking agreements
- The captain does not plan to retire from the national team

Cristiano Ronaldo has spoken in detail for the first time about the conflict with Portugal national team head coach Jorge Jesus. The legendary forward decided to break his silence and openly explain the reasons behind his early departure from the national team camp, which caused a major uproar in the sports world in October 2026.

### Background and Agreements with the Coach

According to the forward, he initially had a working relationship with the new manager. Ronaldo personally supported Jorge Jesus's candidacy in talks with the Portuguese Football Federation leadership. During their first personal meeting, the coach emphasized the player's importance and proposed a special participation plan for the UEFA Nations League matches, under which the forward would play the opening and final fixtures while skipping away games in Norway and Denmark.

### Broken Promises and Warm-up Without Playing

The situation escalated before the match in Norway when the coaching staff asked Ronaldo to be ready to play about 30 minutes. The player agreed despite the initial plan, but after an intensive warm-up in the second half, he never entered the pitch. According to the player, after the final whistle he failed to acknowledge the fans due to emotional distress, but later engaged in a dialogue involving the management.

### Contradictory Data

There are significant discrepancies between the versions presented by both sides. Cristiano Ronaldo claims that during a closed meeting involving the coach and Al-Nassr sports director Simao Coutinho, an agreement was reached that Jesus would publicly explain the situation and apologize for failing to keep his promises. Meanwhile, Portugal head coach Jorge Jesus presented a different interpretation of events, sharply responding to demands for an apology and stating that the team's interests always come above personal ambitions.

### Aftermath and Future in the National Team

Despite the acute conflict and the coach's failure to keep his word, Ronaldo is firmly determined to continue playing for the national team. The Portugal captain stated his readiness to accept disciplinary punishment for his unauthorized departure, emphasizing that his main goal remains winning with the national squad.
