## 🎯 Key Points

- The Sasta machine-tool plant, important for the Russian military-industrial complex, was hit in the Ryazan region
- A large Yandex data center with a capacity of up to 12 MW is located next to the plant
- A large-scale fire has broken out, though local authorities have not officially confirmed the attack

A serious incident has been recorded in the Ryazan region of Russia on the territory of the Sasta machine-tool plant, which is of critical importance for the Russian military-industrial base. The enterprise specializes in the production of high-tech CNC metal-working machine tools, including complex 5-axis centers and heavy turning and milling complexes, which are extremely necessary for the needs of the military-industrial complex.

### Strategic Importance of the Sasta Plant

The equipment of the Ryazan plant is traditionally used in the aerospace industry, heavy engineering, and the defense sector. The manufacturer itself officially confirms its inclusion in the consolidated register of Russia's military-industrial complex organizations. The main value of Sasta lies not in the assembly of finished weapons, but in the supply of fundamental equipment for the production of high-precision metal parts and assemblies, including for Tactical Missiles Corporation and Roscosmos. Notably, the enterprise is under severe international sanctions.

### Proximity to the Yandex Data Center

According to independent OSINT researchers, a large data processing center, Yandex DC Sasovo, is located on the same industrial site as the machine-tool plant. This digital infrastructure facility has a declared energy capacity of up to 12 MW and is capable of housing tens of thousands of servers. Published satellite images confirm the close geographical location of the two facilities, where a large-scale fire broke out as a result of the incident.

### Contradictory Data

Events surrounding the Ryazan facilities are accompanied by discrepancies between official and independent information. Thus, the local authorities of the Ryazan region have not officially confirmed the fact of a forceful attack or strike on the territory of the Sasta plant at this time. At the same time, a massive drone raid was previously reported in the region, resulting in major fires at two other facilities simultaneously — the local oil refinery and the Wildberries sorting complex.

### Consequences and Expert Assessment

A strike on the machine-tool production base deals a tangible blow to the long-term technological chains of Russian industry. The loss of capacities for the production of specialized CNC machines creates a shortage of equipment necessary for the modernization of dual-use plants. The presence of a large Yandex data center nearby also raises questions about the security of digital infrastructure placed close to strategic industrial facilities.
