# Logistical Collapse: Russian Grain Terminals in the Black Sea Suspend Truck Acceptance

The situation regarding the export of Russian grain in the Black Sea region has reached a critical point. Three of the largest grain terminals — KSK and the Novorossiysk Grain Terminal (NGT) in Novorossiysk, as well as ZTKT in Taman — have decided to restrict the acceptance of products delivered by road transport. This unprecedented restriction affects capacities capable of processing more than 20 million tons of grain annually, which accounts for nearly half of Russia's total sea exports.

### Escalation of Risks and Logistics Overload

The reason for such a drastic step was the rapid escalation of threats to shipping. Initially, Russia was forced to restrict movement in the Sea of Azov following a series of Ukrainian drone attacks on Russian grain carriers. This led to the redirection of cargo flows from southern regions of the Russian Federation to Black Sea ports. However, as soon as the logistical load shifted, attacks on Black Sea ports also intensified, creating a vicious circle of danger.

Interviewees note that the psychological barrier has been crossed: "Risks have increased, and fewer people are willing to take bold, reckless risks." Drivers and logistics operators are no longer willing to risk their lives and equipment in conditions where terminals become targets.

### Change in Logistics Schemes and Restrictions

The introduced restrictions radically change the rules of the game for farmers. Two terminals in Novorossiysk (KSK and NGT) continue to accept grain, but now only by rail, and exclusively from southern regions of Russia. About a third of the grain volume previously handled by these hubs was delivered by truck — now this channel is blocked.

The situation is even more acute in Taman. The ZTKT terminal, which accepted grain exclusively by road transport, has effectively reached a dead end. This creates colossal problems for exporters, as major buyers of Russian grain, such as Egypt and Turkey, depend on uninterrupted supplies through these nodes.

### Militarization of Exports

In response to the growing threat, Russia is considering radical measures to protect its exports. According to Bloomberg, it is planned to equip grain carriers with armor and machine guns, as well as provide them with military escort. This indicates that export logistics in the region is transitioning from the category of civilian to military operations, where every voyage requires careful protection and planning.
