In Russia, 41-year-old rapper Mikhail Nits, known under the pseudonym Misha Mavashi, died on the night of October 25, 2026. The musician openly supported Russia's full-scale military invasion of Ukraine, led the far-right movement 'Severny Chelovek' (Northern Man), raised funds for Russian servicemen, and was sentenced in absentia by a Ukrainian court for financing aggression. ### Circumstances of Death and Associates' Reaction Information about the musician's death appeared on his official channels on the night of October 24–25, 2026. A representative and associate of the rapper recorded a video message announcing the tragedy, stating that the cause of death was an accident. At the same time, the musician's close associates did not disclose details of the incident, citing that circumstances are still being clarified and everyone in his circle is in a state of shock. A number of Russian media outlets also circulated unconfirmed reports of a possible gunshot wound, though no official comments from law enforcement or medical services have followed. ### Musical Career and Creation of the 'Severny Chelovek' Movement Mikhail Nits was born on January 29, 1985, in Kazakhstan, but gained widespread recognition in Russia. Initially, he positioned himself as a performer of tracks about sports, a healthy lifestyle, and giving up bad habits, which formed a specific youth audience around him. Later, he headed the 'MAVASHI group' project and transitioned to active socio-political activities. In late 2022, he founded the nationalist movement 'Severny Chelovek'. The organization claimed to protect traditional values, but in practice conducted paramilitary training, tactical medicine and shooting courses, and participated in high-profile anti-migrant raids in Russia. ### Support for Russian Aggression and In Absentia Verdict in Ukraine Since the beginning of Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine, Mavashi openly supported the Kremlin's actions, using his online platforms to spread propaganda narratives and anti-Ukrainian statements. He regularly organized fundraising campaigns for the needs of Russian soldiers, personally visited occupied territories, including Mariupol, and publicly reported on the assistance provided. In September 2025, the Vinnitsa City Court sentenced Mikhail Nits in absentia to eight years in prison with confiscation of property. The Ukrainian investigation and court qualified his actions under the article on financing actions aimed at changing the state border of Ukraine, establishing his systemic involvement in supplying Russian troops. ### Aftermath and Public Resonance Mikhail Nits' death caused a significant resonance in Russian media and far-right publics. The musician's figure remained extremely controversial: on the one hand, he enjoyed support from radical circles for his public and militaristic activity, and on the other hand, his involvement in supporting armed aggression against a neighboring state led to severe legal consequences in Ukraine, including an international accused status and an in absentia prison sentence. The incident draws a line under the biography of one of the prominent figures of the Russian far-right scene openly engaged in the military conflict. ## Accounts differ ### Details of the musician's death - **Musician's representative and Russian publics:** Death occurred as a result of an accident, circumstances are being clarified.
