# More than 55,000 residents of the Nikopol region are left without power following Russian shelling

A major accident occurred in the power system in the Nikopol district of the Dnipropetrovsk region. According to local authorities, the cause of the outage was Russian shelling, which left tens of thousands of residents without electricity.

### Scale of outages

Alexander Ganja, Head of the Dnipropetrovsk Regional Military Administration (RMA), confirmed in his Telegram channel that the enemy attack resulted in the disconnection of more than 55,000 subscribers in the Nikopol region. Information about the critical situation was promptly transmitted to the media, including RBC-Ukraine.

The situation in the region remains tense. Energy workers have already begun to eliminate the consequences of the strike. Specialists are working in an enhanced mode to restore electricity supply to the homes of affected citizens as quickly as possible.

### Context: pressure on the power system

The attack on the Nikopol district is not an isolated incident. Ukraine's energy infrastructure is under constant pressure. Earlier, it was reported that in July, emergency power outage schedules were introduced for consumers in the Sumy region, which was a consequence of network damage from regular shelling.

In addition, on July 24, Russian forces attacked an energy facility in the Chernihiv region. As a result of the strike, about 150,000 subscribers in the Chernihiv district and the city of Chernihiv itself were left without power. These incidents demonstrate the systematic nature of attacks on critical infrastructure.

### Heat factor

The restoration of network operations is complicated by external factors. In early August, Ukraine faced anomalous heat, which is predictably going to lead to a sharp increase in electricity consumption - by a whole gigawatt immediately. The combination of the consequences of military attacks and peak loads due to the weather creates serious challenges for the country's energy workers.
