## 🎯 Key Points

- The attack on the shopping center took place in the Romny district of Sumy region
- The strike caused a massive fire that was fought until night
- Rescuers' work was repeatedly interrupted due to the threat of repeat attacks
- According to preliminary SES data, there were no casualties

Russian troops launched another attack on Ukraine's civilian infrastructure, targeting a shopping center in the Romny district of Sumy region. As a result of the hostile impact, a massive fire broke out in the building, covering a significant area. Units of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine (SES) promptly arrived at the scene and began liquidation of the emergency situation.

### Liquidation of Consequences and Threat of Repeat Shelling

The work of rescuers at the scene was complicated by the constant threat of new attacks from the enemy. Due to the risk of repeat strikes, firefighters had to interrupt firefighting operations and temporarily retreat to safe shelters. Despite difficult and dangerous conditions, SES specialists, together with community safety officers, continued fighting the fire and worked at the facility until late at night until all combustion sources were completely eliminated.

### Contradictory Data

While Ukrainian specialized departments and official reports record the general destruction of retail infrastructure in Sumy region without specifying the type of weapon in operational releases, independent regional sources and foreign monitoring channels reported that the attack on the shopping center was carried out by an enemy FPV drone. At the same time, despite the massive fire and serious destruction of the building itself, preliminary official data from specialized services indicate that there were no casualties or injured people.

### General Context of Nighttime Shelling Across Ukraine

This attack on Sumy region occurred against the backdrop of massive nighttime strikes on other regions of Ukraine. In particular, on the night of October 1, Russian drones attacked Kyiv, where a premises on the ground floor of a 16-story residential building burned in the Solomianskyi district, and a warehouse facility caught fire in the Obolonskyi district, resulting in one victim being handed over to medics. Concurrently, a business center in Odesa suffered a strike, damaging the roof and facade, while the fifth floor had partially destroyed load-bearing walls and a fire broke out.
