During the NATO summit in Ankara, Alliance Secretary General Mark Rutte made a direct appeal to Russian President Vladimir Putin. The head of the alliance called on the Russian leader to refrain from provocations and clearly outlined the West's position.

### 'Don't Play With Us'

Rutte emphasized that NATO is not an aggressive force. 'We will never attack anyone. We will only defend our way of life, our democracy, and our territory,' the Secretary General stated, addressing the Kremlin. This message became one of the central points of the summit, demonstrating the bloc's readiness for defense, but not for expansion.

### Kremlin Desperation and Ukraine's Successes

Commenting on the massive missile strikes on Ukrainian cities, Rutte called them evidence of the desperation of the Russian leadership. According to the Secretary General, such actions are dictated by a lack of success on the battlefield. 'I think this shows once again how desperate Putin is, because the Ukrainians are fighting well on the battlefield,' he noted.

NATO states that the Ukrainian army has achieved remarkable results. Key changes on the front line, which Rutte pointed out:

- The Russian army is no longer capable of making large-scale breakthroughs as it did a few months ago.

- The situation on the front line has moved into a stage resembling a stalemate.

The Secretary General emphasized that indiscriminate attacks on civilians and infrastructure will not bring Russia victory. 'People are dying, but Russia will never win this war in this way,' he added.

### Ukraine's New Role and Peace Prospects

Against this backdrop, Kyiv has already called on NATO to officially recognize Ukraine's new role in the Alliance for the first time. Alongside this, Rutte voiced a forecast regarding the possibility of peace negotiations with Putin, linking them to new successes by the Armed Forces of Ukraine both on the front lines and in the diplomatic arena. Additionally, financial issues are being discussed: NATO is ready to allocate funds to Ukraine even without direct US participation.
