A criminal case has been opened in Georgia regarding the massive emergency power outages that occurred on the night of July 24 and the morning of July 25. The State Security Service (SSB) of Georgia has classified the incidents as sabotage.

The investigation is being conducted under Article 318 of the country's Criminal Code. This article stipulates liability for actions aimed at disrupting, damaging, or destroying the normal functioning of state enterprises and other important facilities, provided such actions create a threat to state interests.

### Timeline of Outages

The first massive blackout occurred on the night of July 24. The country's largest cities, including Tbilisi, Batumi, Kutaisi, Kobuleti, and Telavi, were left without electricity. The power grid failure triggered cascading problems: mobile connectivity, internet access, and traffic light operations were disrupted in several regions.

The situation recurred the following day. On the morning of July 25, around 08:00 local time, power supply disappeared again in Tbilisi, Batumi, Kutaisi, and other settlements. The consequences in the capital were particularly severe: the metro system temporarily suspended operations, and train movements were disrupted.

Due to the shutdown of pumping stations, parts of Tbilisi were left without water supply. City residents also reported unstable mobile internet service, which significantly hindered communication during the outage hours.

### Position of Security Services

The State Security Service of Georgia confirmed the fact of the case initiation. The agency's statement notes that the investigation will be conducted in stages, and the public will be informed about the progress of the investigative actions as they develop.
