Satellite images obtained on July 19 recorded extensive damage to a Tu-95 strategic bomber at the Engels-2 military airfield in the Saratov region. Footage provided by the «Schemes» project of «Radio Liberty» demonstrates that the tail section of one of the aircraft has been completely separated from the fuselage.

### Confirmation of the strike on strategic aviation

Photos taken by Planet Labs allow for a detailed assessment of the aircraft's condition. Visual analysis confirms that the damage is critical. Experts note that in this state, the bomber has most likely lost the ability to perform combat missions. The Engels-2 airfield is a key base for Russian strategic aviation, which regularly uses these aircraft to launch Kh-101 cruise missiles.

### Chronology of events

Events unfolded rapidly. On July 17, the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) officially announced a successful attack on a strategic object. According to the intelligence agency, Ukrainian long-range drones covered a distance of about 800 kilometers to strike Russian bombers. Satellite data published two days later became visual confirmation of the effectiveness of this operation.

The situation around the airfield in the Saratov region remains a focus of attention, as it is from these sites that massive strikes on Ukrainian territory are carried out. The loss or disabling of cruise missile carriers could significantly affect the operational capabilities of Russian aviation.
