During the night, Ukrainian drones struck the Moscow Oil Refinery. This is already the second attack on the facility in the last seven days. Along with it, targets in the Rostov region and on temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine were hit.

### Kyiv's reaction and attack objectives

This was reported by the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyy, in his Telegram channel. He called these strikes a just response to Russian attacks on Ukrainian cities and settlements. The head of state emphasized that this is the result of the work of the Defense Forces against objects supporting the Russian war machine.

Zelenskyy thanked the SBU, SRS, SSO, GUR, and the missile brigade for their joint work and precision. He noted that Ukraine's partners in recent days have highlighted the effectiveness of medium-range strikes and long-range sanctions. The President called on Russia to take the necessary steps in diplomacy to end the war.

### Scale of damage and consequences

The Security Service of Ukraine clarified the details of the incident. At least four major fire sites were recorded on the territory of the Moscow Oil Refinery. Huge columns of thick black smoke are rising into the sky, visible from different districts of the capital.

Preliminarily, the strikes hit the tank farm, the CDU unit (carrying out primary processing of crude oil), and the diesel hydrotreating unit. The Moscow Oil Refinery is the largest enterprise of its kind in the city. It supplies a significant part of the capital's fuel market, providing key volumes of gasoline and more than 50% of diesel fuel for the region, as well as fuel for airports.

### Situation in Moscow

This is not the first attack on the facility. After the strike on June 16, the plant had already temporarily suspended operations. On the night of Thursday, June 18, Moscow and the region were subjected to the most massive drone attack. Then the refinery in Kapotnya was again under attack, where a large-scale fire is still raging.

Due to the attack, the Moscow Ring Road (MKAD) is partially closed. Drivers are asked to find detours. Also, due to the threat in the sky, the authorities were forced to introduce the "Carpet" plan. Drones forced the suspension of operations at all Moscow airports: "Vnukovo", "Domodedovo", "Zhukovsky", and "Sheremetyevo".
