# Sergey Fedorenko appointed Acting Head of Naftogaz: Zelenskyy's personnel decisions ahead of the heating season

On July 17, the independent supervisory board of Naftogaz decided to appoint Sergey Fedorenko as the Acting Head of the company. President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced the personnel changes in this key Ukrainian energy asset via his Telegram channel.

### Priority — Preparation for Winter

The Head of State held a meeting with the new Prime Minister, Serhiy Korytskyi, during which the focus was placed on the critical importance of preparing for the upcoming heating season. Amidst ongoing Russian attacks on energy infrastructure, the issue of fuel supply stability has become a matter of national security.

Zelenskyy emphasized that the appointment of Fedorenko is a choice of a professional with experience in the industry. The President noted that Fedorenko underwent the transformation of Ukrnafta together with Serhiy Korytskyi, and they share experience in cleansing the company's internal processes from "predatory oligarchic influence." Thanks to these efforts, according to the Head of State, Ukrnafta has become one of the most profitable state-owned companies.

### Who is Sergey Fedorenko

The new Acting Head of Naftogaz has more than 10 years of experience in the oil and gas sector. Prior to his current appointment, he held the position of Commercial Director of Naftogaz. Previously, from 2015 to 2023, Fedorenko worked as the Commercial Director of Ukrenergo (UkrGasDobycha), where he was also a member of the board.

Between 2019 and 2022, he headed the company "Neftegaz Oil Trading." At Ukrnafta, he also held the position of Commercial Director, overseeing key sales and business development areas.

### Working in Wartime Conditions

Volodymyr Zelenskyy added that work on restoring energy infrastructure following Russian strikes does not stop. The President noted the fact of new attacks on Naftogaz facilities, stating that there is significant damage.

"We discussed with the Prime Minister what steps are needed in such conditions, and it is important that, despite constant Russian attacks, we implement everything we agreed upon to prepare for winter," Zelenskyy concluded.

Sergey Fedorenko will head Naftogaz in the capacity of Acting Head until the completion of the competitive selection and appointment of a new General Director.
