# Sevastopol in Darkness: Occupation Authorities Admit Energy System Collapse and Abandon Power Outage Schedule

In occupied Sevastopol, a critical situation has arisen regarding electricity supply. The city authorities, acting under Russian control, have been forced to admit that the peninsula's energy system is on the verge of collapse. Mikhail Razvozhayev, an official representative of the occupation administration, informed residents that the system operator has introduced strict power restrictions to prevent a complete blackout in the region.

### Abandonment of the "2 on, 6 off" Schedule

The situation has worsened to the point where occupation authorities have abandoned the previously operating "2 on, 6 off" power cut regime (two hours of power, six hours without it). Razvozhayev stated that there are no precise schedules at the moment, as commands are received from the system dispatcher in real-time.

"There is little power in the system right now, so we are forced to act situationally," explained the so-called "governor." According to him, specialists from "Sevastopolenergo" are manually switching networks, trying to "fairly distribute" the available limits between the city districts.

### Priority for Critical Infrastructure

Given the energy deficit, priority is given to life-support facilities. Power is supplied first to hospitals, pumping stations, and other critically important objects. Razvozhayev attempted to explain to residents why there might be light in neighboring houses while their apartments remain dark.

"This does not mean they "forgot" to turn it off. Most likely, this building is on the same line as a hospital or another critical facility that cannot be cut off," he added.

### Consequences of Attacks on Energy Infrastructure

Although officials do not name the real reasons for the collapse, the situation is directly linked to a series of strikes on Crimea's energy sector. On July 14, Sevastopol was left without power following an attack on the local thermal power plant, which Razvozhayev himself confirmed.

Previously, from July 9 to 10, the UAV forces of the Ukrainian Armed Forces struck five substations in occupied Crimea: "Beregovo", "Maynaki", "Novoozernaya", "Saki", and "Medvedevo". As a result of these strikes, Sevastopol plunged into darkness, and the occupiers called the incident a "technological violation".

On the night of July 12, the region was subjected to another drone attack. Explosions in Simferopol and the repeated disappearance of power in Sevastopol led to the introduction of temporary power restrictions. Occupation authorities plan to stabilize the system by evening and attempt to return to the "2 on, 6 off" regime, however, this remains only a tentative forecast, dependent on the load on the network.
