On Tuesday, October 27, 2026, Lviv will host one of the most anticipated matchups of the autumn stage of the 2026/27 Ukrainian Cup. In the Round of 16, Donetsk's Shakhtar and Kyiv's Dynamo—the two most titled clubs in the country, whose encounters traditionally bear the 'Classico' status—will face each other. The game will take place at the Arena Lviv stadium and kick off at 18:00 Kyiv time. This very match will determine which club continues its fight for the national trophy and advances to the quarterfinals of the tournament. ### Match Format and Referees Viktor Kopiievskyi has been appointed as the main referee of the match. According to the cup regulations, extra time is not provided at this stage: if regulation time ends in a draw, the winner will be decided immediately via a penalty shootout. This format makes the match particularly tense from the opening minutes, as both teams will strive to settle the outcome within the 90-minute period from the very beginning. ### Teams' Path to the Round of 16 Both teams advanced to the Round of 16 by overcoming lower-division representatives. In the previous round, Shakhtar confidently defeated Vilkhivtsi 3:0, while Dynamo secured an away win against Niva Vinnytsia—1:0, thanks to a goal by Aliu Tiare. Thus, ahead of the 'Classico', both teams have already gained form within the cup tournament and approach the match against their arch-rival in good working rhythm. ### Ukrainian Premier League Context In the UPL standings at the time of the match, both teams occupy the top positions. According to sources, after 10 rounds, Shakhtar has gathered 24 points and sits in second place, while Dynamo, having played one match fewer, has 19 points and occupies the fourth line. In their last ten matches, the Donetsk side achieved six victories with three draws, whereas the Kyiv team celebrated victory only once in the same span. Notably, Dynamo won its first match under the management of the new head coach, adding an emotional boost to the capital side ahead of the encounter with their main rival. ### Where to Watch the Broadcast The live broadcast of the 'Classico' will be available on the UPL.TV television channel, as well as on a number of OTT platforms, including MEGOGO, Kyivstar TV, Vodafone TV, and SWEET.TV. Additionally, the match will be broadcast in open access on the official UPL TV YouTube channel, allowing fans to watch the game online for free. The extensive media coverage highlights the match's status as one of the central events of the matchday. ### Historical Context of the Rivalry For Shakhtar and Dynamo, this is the second consecutive time the teams are meeting in the Round of 16 of the Ukrainian Cup. In the previous campaign at this stage, the Kyiv side won 2:1 and ultimately claimed the trophy, giving Donetsk a chance for revenge now. Taking into account the equal-status rivalry, high tournament motivation, and the absence of extra time in Lviv, an open and high-scoring battle is expected, the outcome of which will become one of the key events of the autumn part of the 2026/27 season. ## Fact-Check & Sources - ["Шахтер" – "Динамо" в Кубке Украины: где и когда смотреть матч](https://sport.rbc.ua/ukr/football/shahtar-dinamo-kubku-ukrayini-de-i-koli-divitisya-1793086312.html) - Primary source: date 27.10, 18:00 Kyiv time, Arena Lviv, referee Viktor Kopiievskyi, broadcasts UPL.TV/OTT/YouTube, scores 3:0 and 1:0, format without extra time, last season result 2:1. - [Шахтер – Динамо: кто победит в матче 1/8 финала Кубка Украины](https://sportnews.24tv.ua/ru/shahter-dinamo-prognoz-match-18-finala-kubka-ukrainy_n3167976) - Confirms the stadium, time, scores of the previous round (goal by Aliu Tiare), UPL context (24 points/2nd place for Shakhtar, 19 points/4th place for Dynamo), coach Arda Turan. - [Шахтер – Динамо.
