In an interview with the YouTube channel "Bomber," the head of the UAF publicly commented on the doping scandal that shocked the football community for the first time. ### "We believe in Mykhailo" Shevchenko clearly outlined the UAF's position: the association has never been a party to the conflict and fully supports its ward. "Our position remains unchanged β€” we believe in Mykhailo and that he did everything correctly. We are waiting for his return," emphasized the UAF president. Shevchenko paid special attention to refuting rumors linking the doping test to the national team. He categorically rejected the version that the prohibited substance could have reached the player during his stay at the Ukraine national team camp. ### Legal support and appeal The UAF is providing maximum legal support to the 25-year-old footballer. According to Shevchenko, officials are in constant contact with Mudryk's lawyers, providing all necessary information and documents. "We were ready to help and helped with all requests sent by lawyers. All the information we managed to collect was passed on, constantly in dialogue with his representatives," noted the head of the UAF. Currently, Mykhailo has appealed the decision of the Football Association of England (FA). The Court of Arbitration for Sport in Lausanne will consider the case in the near future. Shevchenko expressed hope that the court will make a fair decision and reduce the disqualification period. ### Chronology of the scandal It all started in December 2024, when meldonium β€” a substance that increases endurance and is banned by WADA β€” was found in Mudryk's doping sample "A". The footballer passed a positive test after the Nations League matches in November 2024, where the Ukraine national team drew with Georgia (1:1) and defeated Albania (2:1). The temporary suspension from football lasted until the "B" sample was checked. On June 18, 2025, the FA brought official charges, and in April 2026, the verdict was announced: four years of disqualification β€” the maximum penalty. Taking into account the temporary suspension, Mudryk will not be able to play until the end of 2028. ### Fight for justice Mudryk himself categorically rejects the accusations. He is cooperating with the leading law firm Morgan Sports Law, which previously successfully defended Paul Pogba. The French midfielder managed to reduce his disqualification period from four years to 18 months. Now all hopes of Ukrainian football are pinned on a similar outcome for Mudryk's case.
