Developing an anti-ballistic system is a large-scale project requiring the coordination of leading defense industry giants. Previously, the designation FREYA appeared in the media, but the diplomat refused to confirm or deny this information. According to Makeev, the official name and the full list of participants will be known later. In addition to creating a fundamentally new system, the parties are actively discussing issues of localizing the production of existing technologies. This refers to Patriot complexes. Although the technology belongs to the USA, the German company MBDA holds the corresponding license, which opens the way for technology transfer. The parties have already reached specific agreements on the delivery of a significant number of missiles and potential joint construction of production lines. However, the question of exactly where production will be deployed has not yet been resolved. The diplomat believes that talking about specific locations at this stage is premature. ### Critical Shortage of Ammunition The relevance of the project is confirmed by the current situation on the front. Ukraine urgently lacks air defense systems capable of intercepting ballistic missiles to protect against Russian aggression. In this regard, Kyiv is negotiating with 40 countries worldwide, asking them to provide Patriot missiles in exchange for future supplies contracted for Ukraine. The ammunition situation has reached a critical point. The Ukrainian Air Force previously reported a shortage of missiles for Patriot, NASAMS, and IRIS-T air defense systems. In some units, ammunition stocks are almost completely exhausted, making the question of creating their own production base and new defense systems a matter of survival.
