# Sikorski on 'Russian trolls': how the Kremlin is trying to ignite a conflict between Ukraine and Poland

Polish Foreign Minister Radosław Sikorski has warned of a coordinated campaign to destabilize relations between Warsaw and Kyiv. According to him, Russian intelligence services and internet trolls are actively trying to provoke conflicts by stoking emotions around historical tragedies in the relations between the two countries.

Sikorski stated that millions of bots and agents of influence are working to inflame Polish-Ukrainian passions. At the same time, according to the head of the Polish Foreign Ministry, Kremlin officials, including Deputy Chairman of the Security Council of the Russian Federation Dmitry Medvedev and Director of the Information and Press Department of the Russian Foreign Ministry Maria Zakharova, are openly encouraging such disputes.

### Historical disputes as an enemy's tool

"I suggest we consider this issue, because since the 17th century, disputes, crimes, and Polish-Ukrainian battles have always served our enemy," Sikorski emphasized in an interview published by RMF FM.

The Foreign Minister noted that nationalists on both sides often try to compete with each other for short-term rating boosts. However, in his opinion, such rhetoric only undermines the common strategic interest, which is to counter Russian imperialism.

Sikorski also reminded that Ukraine needs Poland more, both during the war with Russia and in the process of joining the European Union. He pointed out that Kyiv will have to adapt to European standards, just as Warsaw did in its time.

### Anniversaries and reconciliation

In the conversation, the minister mentioned the anniversary of the Volhynian tragedy and the Jedwabne pogrom. He noted that every nation must examine its conscience, as this is a measure of maturity and readiness to participate in the European family.

"Anniversaries should not serve to increase the level of support, but rather to facilitate reconciliation and guarantee that we will not kill each other in the future," Sikorski concluded.

### Tensions over the UPA and Kremlin plans

Lately, tensions have arisen between Ukraine and Poland over historical issues. Earlier, it became known that Warsaw put forward a condition to Kyiv during behind-the-scenes negotiations regarding the UPA. Poland expects the Ukrainian side to find a way to change the decree of President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, which assigned the honorary name "named after the Heroes of the UPA" to one of the Armed Forces of Ukraine units.

At the same time, the Polish side is actively monitoring subversive activities by the Kremlin directed against European countries. Radosław Sikorski warned that Russia is preparing new provocations and sabotage against EU states.

He emphasized that allies are trying to stay one step ahead and are publicly disclosing Moscow's plans to deter it from further aggressive actions in Europe.
