### Solar Storm Approaching: X1.1 Class Flare

Heliophysics centers have recorded a high-power event on the Sun — an X1.1 class flare. The explosion occurred in active region 4475 and was the most powerful in recent months. According to trajectory calculations of coronal mass ejections, the cloud of solar plasma and the shock wave front will reach Earth's magnetosphere on the evening of July 2, 2026.

Experts forecast the development of a strong geomagnetic storm of G3 level. This will be the most intense disturbance since March 2026. The main flow of matter is expected between 21:00 and 00:00 Eastern European Time.

### Scale of Solar Activity

The X1.1 class flare was not the only event. Within 24 hours, a series of powerful pre-maximum M-class eruptions were recorded in the same active region, including pulses of M5.9 and M5.8 intensity. To understand the scale: the X-ray radiation classification scale divides flares into five categories (A, B, C, M, X), where each subsequent class is 10 times more powerful than the previous one.

Flows of hard ultraviolet and X-ray radiation from such events cause instantaneous ionization of the upper layers of Earth's atmosphere, which is the first signal of an approaching disturbance.

### Risks to Technology and Infrastructure

The geomagnetic storm scale (from G1 to G5) classifies G3 as "strong." During this period, direct impact on technological systems both on Earth and in orbit is recorded. Satellite constellation operators have switched to enhanced space weather monitoring mode.

Key areas of risk include:

- **Energy:** Induced currents are possible in industrial networks, capable of causing false triggers of protection systems.
- **Space:** Surface charge may accumulate on satellites, and aerodynamic drag will increase at low orbits.
- **Communication and Navigation:** Deterioration of shortwave radio signal propagation and reduced GPS/GLONASS accuracy are expected.
- **Optics:** The auroral zone will shift to lower latitudes, becoming visible in regions where this is rare.

### Recommendations and Health Impact

The International Space Environment Service (ISES) recommended that operators of precise positioning and radio communication systems account for probable signal distortions during the peak activity period. Additionally, medical specialists warn of a possible correlation between increased geomagnetic background and human well-being. The risk group includes patients with chronic cardiovascular diseases, who should exercise increased caution during magnetic storm days.
