August is traditionally considered the peak of the garden season. This is a time when the main sowing is already behind, but the beds require special attention: you need to harvest the generous crop in time, plant fast-maturing greens for the autumn table, and prepare the plot for the next season. To ensure that work on the land brings maximum results, experienced gardeners check their plans against the phases of the Moon. The Earth's satellite has a direct influence on the movement of sap in plants, dictating the rhythm of work.

### Astronomical landmarks of August 2026

Before you pick up your tools, it is important to remember the key dates of the month. On the waxing moon, everything that grows above ground develops actively, while on the waning moon, the root system is strengthened. In August 2026, the phase schedule looks as follows:

- **Waning Moon:** from August 1 to 11, and also from August 29 to 31. Ideal time for harvesting root vegetables, pruning bushes, and applying fertilizers.

- **New Moon:** August 12. A critical period when it is better not to touch the plants.

- **Waxing Moon:** from August 13 to 27. The best time to work with crops that bear above-ground fruits and to sow fresh greens.

- **Full Moon:** August 28. Plants become very sensitive, so transplanting is completely stopped.

**August 4–6** — very fertile days. During this period, you must definitely engage in safe organic weeding of weeds and fertilizing exhausted soil.

**August 7–9** — unproductive days. Sowing is suspended during this time. It is recommended to devote these days to treating the garden against pests exclusively with natural solutions, avoiding chemicals.

**August 10–11** — days before the New Moon. All plantings are highly undesirable. You can only slightly loosen dry soil and harvest already ripe fruits.

**August 12** — New Moon. A complete taboo on any work with plants. Let the garden rest fully.

**August 13–15** — the first days of the waxing Moon. You can safely sow leaf lettuce, dill, parsley, and useful arugula. Plants will grow very quickly during this period.

**August 16–19** — the best days for above-ground vegetables. Ideal time for sowing a second crop of radishes and juicy daikon. This is also the optimal period to accelerate the ripening of tomatoes through proper pruning.

**August 20–23** — a period perfectly suitable for caring for strawberries. You should carefully remove excess runners and loosen the interrows.

**August 24–26** — fertile days. You can sow green manure to enrich the soil, as well as fertilize vegetables. Watering on these days will be maximally effective for plants.

**August 27** — the day before the Full Moon. Sowing stops. You can engage in collecting seeds for the next year.

**August 28** — Full Moon. Work with plants is strictly forbidden. You can engage in organizing garden tools.

**August 29–31** — a very favorable time for digging up late root vegetables.
