# Space Giant vs. Silicon Valley: How SpaceX is Building a $52 Billion AI Empire

The space race has shifted its vector. While SpaceX is traditionally associated with rockets and satellites, Elon Musk's company is making an unprecedented leap into the field of artificial intelligence. According to Taiwanese sources, SpaceX has placed an order with Taiwanese giant Foxconn worth approximately $52 billion. The order concerns the delivery of about 13,000 NVIDIA GB300 AI server racks — flagship equipment for training neural networks.

### Scale Changing the Industry

The details of the contract are impressive not only in terms of the sum but also the timeline. Deliveries are scheduled to begin in the fourth quarter of 2026 and continue until the first quarter of 2027. The cost of a single server rack is estimated at $4 million. In total, the order includes 936,000 NVIDIA graphics processing units. It remains to be seen whether Foxconn will receive the entire contract or if SpaceX will distribute the procurement among several assemblers; however, the mere fact of such a volume of orders is already changing the balance of power.

This contract is of strategic importance for Foxconn. The Taiwanese company expects to capture about 40 percent of the global AI server market by the end of 2026. It is important to note that this massive order from SpaceX is not accounted for in the company's current forecasts, which means: Foxconn's actual figures could significantly exceed analyst expectations. Furthermore, thanks to this contract, Foxconn has managed to break the entrenched duopoly of Dell and Supermicro, which dominated the segment.

### Computing Power Architecture: Colossus

The order for new equipment is just the tip of the iceberg. SpaceX is actively building infrastructure for data processing. As of May 2026, the company's first data center, named Colossus 1, already supported more than 220,000 NVIDIA graphics processing units. This equipment park is distributed between H100, H200 models, and approximately 30,000 GB200 AI accelerators.

The second data center, Colossus 2, demonstrates even more impressive scales. At present, it counts more than 550,000 GPUs, divided between GB200 accelerators and the newest GB300s. Such a concentration of computing resources allows SpaceX not only to develop its own projects but also to monetize capacities by selling them to third-party companies.

### New Business Model: Capacity Rental

In anticipation of its IPO, SpaceX concluded a number of large-scale cloud service agreements. One of the key partners became Google. The company gained access to computing power equivalent to 110,000 NVIDIA graphics processing units, as well as CPUs, memory, and other components. The cost of this deal is $920 million per month.

An even larger contract was signed with Starlink's parent company and AI developer Anthropic. SpaceX provided access to 220,000 NVIDIA graphics processing units, including H100, H200, GB200 models, and others. This deal is valued at $1.25 billion per month, or $15 billion per year.

### Resource Allocation Strategy

Interestingly, the agreements are tied to specific data centers, which dictates their usage. The deal with Anthropic is tied to the Colossus 1 data center. The diverse set of GPUs at this facility makes it less attractive for training future versions of Grok AI, so xAI uses only 11 percent of all available FLOPs (floating-point operations per second). At the same time, the deal with Google is predominantly linked to the more powerful and homogeneous Colossus 2 data center.

SpaceX's list of partners is not limited to the private sector. In June 2026, the company signed another contract for computing power worth $6.3 billion for the Colossus 2 data center. The partner for this agreement became Reflection, a company linked to the Pentagon. This confirms that SpaceX's computing infrastructure is becoming a critically important asset not only for commercial AI but also for US defense needs.
