# Spy in the Academy: SBU Detains MoD Associate Professor Leaking Drone Blueprints to GRU

A serious sabotage operation has been uncovered within the ranks of the Ukrainian defense complex. The Security Service of Ukraine (SBU), in cooperation with the Ministry of Defense and the leadership of a military academy, has thwarted the activities of an agent of the Main Directorate of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation (GRU). The latest developments in the field of unmanned systems were under threat.

### Technology Leak and Sabotage from Within

The figure in the case is an associate professor at the scientific center of the academy. Military counterintelligence officers established that the instructor systematically passed confidential project documentation to a Russian handler. This concerns the blueprints and technical data of the latest drones being developed for the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

However, the traitor's activities were not limited to data leaks. As reported by the SBU, the agent intentionally sabotaged domestic production. He groundlessly deemed the developments of Ukrainian manufacturers undergoing expert evaluation as unpromising. To this end, the associate professor prepared fabricated "negative" conclusions on test projects for unmanned and robotic systems, attempting to stop their implementation in the troops.

### Arrest "Red-Handed"

SBU investigators did not act immediately but documented every step of the spy, using his communication channels to mislead the enemy. The arrest operation was carried out in the suspect's office. The agent was caught in the act of transferring data.

During the search, two mobile phones and computer equipment used to communicate with Russian special services and transfer secret information were seized from the detainee.

### Motivation and Sentence

According to the investigation, the associate professor was recruited through an acquaintance from Russia. As bait, the traitor was promised a high position in the Russian occupation administration.

The culprit has now been informed of suspicion under Part 2 of Article 111 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (treason committed under martial law). The court has chosen a preventive measure in the form of detention without the right to post bail. If guilt is proven, the spy could face life imprisonment with confiscation of property.

This is not the only high-profile case in recent days. Earlier in Kyiv, the so-called "former minister" of energy of Crimea, Sergey Kolobov, was detained. The press is also discussing the verdict of the former head of the ATC Staff at the SBU, Dmytro Kozhura, who received a life sentence for treason.
